Romance Writers of America

RWA is Romance Writers of America. It is the national association for published and aspiring romance writers. It’s a site for people who write romance and want to meet or join clubs with others that are writing or trying to write books about romance or with romance in them.

I joined because I wanted to learn more about romance and get input from others. Luckily, I have met other romance writer in the area. But, there is not a chapter here in International Fall or close so that I may go and meet others. Maybe other romance writers will see this and want to start one here which would be nice.

The only thing I don't like about RWA is that they don't encourage people who write to published by someone that you pay for their books like I did. I don't see the problem. If you want to get published, why should it matter how you get published as long as you get published. Maybe they aren't as good, but I like the published I picked. I don't have to spend years getting published and have the freedom to do what I want. I have all the rights to my book and free to market or write another book.

I would love to hear from other writers who are published by a regular or have been sanity or vanity published and tell me what you like or didn't like about them.

I just got my monthy RWR magazine and I read they are having their yearly conference in California. I would love to go, but I can't afford it and am afraid of flying. I would love to hear from other writers or people who have attend or going to attend this year...it sounds like alot of fun. Maybe next year...
